What are Boom trucks / Boom Truck Cranes?
A Boom Truck put simply is a vehicle that combines parts from a truck and a crane. The crane is positioned on the chassis of a truck which provides the stability to lift heavy items. Boom refers to the vehicle’s extendable arm which booms & extends vs a fixedor jib arm.
Sometimes referred to as lorry loaders they are a pretty common vehicle used in heavy industry & construction. They are great for lifting anything from 5 tonnes to 50 tonnes they are excellent at quickly stacking objects and moving them from A to B. They are a truck so they are very mobile and therefore are very practical around a job site. They drive like regular trucks so they can be maneuvered into positions vs a tower crane needing to be set up and maintained in a particular position.They do not have counterweights unlike a regular crane.
